Michael Clayton’s “The Mexico Chapter Extended Version” is a collection of prints created during the years the artist was l iving and studying in Mexico.
Having traveled extensively around the country, Michael was heavily influenced by the Mayan, Aztec and Olmec pyramids he visited. Seeing the different carved symbols on the walls of the ancient ruins, inspired Michael to created his own group of images. These images of the sun, hearts, eyes, a male diver, shells, fire, and fish are used repeatedly in different combinations. ” I use my symbols like hieroglyphics, the pictures tell a story”.
“The Mexico Chapter Extended Version” show contains woodcut, lithograph, linoleum cut, metal etchings and relief prints from Michael’s graduation show, “Control or Protection ?” as well as prints from a few other exhibitions in Mexico and Canada. This is Michael’s third solo show in Taiwan.
